Winter Fashion Inspo: Dress as a New Yorker

Qui dit changement de saison, dit changement de garde robe. Avec l’arrivée des premiers jours frileux à New York et l’approche des fêtes de fin d’année, je n’ai qu’une envie: renouveler (ou plutôt ajouter) ma garde robe avec des vêtements aux couleurs neutres et aux matières chaudes. Et comme le mois décembre rime avec les fêtes, pourquoi ne pas y incorporer quelques pièces dorées et pailletées (ça suit tellement bien avec la neige aussi).

What keeps me excited with the beginning of the colder months in New York, is the good excuse it gives me to go shopping. Every year, the eternal comment bursts out of my mouth in front of my wardrobe : “I have nothing to wear, I really need to go shopping!” (ok each season I say that). I love Winter clothes because you see, you have to layer a lot to keep warm and suddenly indulging investing in a cashmere piece is a necessity.

Happy 4th of July! Aux États-Unis, la fête nationale a lieu le 4 Juillet, jour de l’Indépendance. Je suis chanceuse d’avoir un long weekend de 4 jours pour célébrer à la plage et en ville avec un petit road trip hors de New York.

La Mule, Spring It-shoe in New York

Les beaux jours sont de retour à New York, la pédicure recommence à se montrer indispensable, et les chaussures ouvertes refont leur apparition dans les rues de la Grosse Pomme. Ce printemps, j’ai envie de faire ma tête de mule, ou plutôt mon pied… (ce mauvais jeu de mots prend fin tout de suite!). La Mule, c’est la tendance du printemps et une manière ingénue de faire la transition douce des bottines avant de ré-adopter les tongs.

Sunny, warm days are back in New York, pedicures are becoming a must again, and open-toe shoes start to re-invade the city. This Spring, I have a big crush on Mules. Even though Mules were originally closed-toe, I like the edit with the open-toe version. It is a genius transition between low boots and flip flops.

“to Tommy from Zooey”, the new collaboration from Zooey Deschanel & Tommy Hilfiger / Spring 2014

« to Tommy from Zooey », la nouvelle collaboration de Tommy Hilfiger et Zooey Deschanel, est disponible en magasin depuis lundi et j’avais hâte de la voir de mes propres yeux. Le Macy’s d’Herald Square à New York nous a même gâté avec la présentation de la collection par l’actrice et chanteuse, et le créateur en personne. Une discussion très enrichissante sur leur rencontre et la naissance de la collection capsule. Si seulement Macy’s avait prévu un meilleur emplacement pour cette rencontre et un personnel plus sympathique… It is what is it !

The Zooey Deschanel and Tommy Hilfiger collaboration, “to TOMMY from ZOOEY”, hit stores this Monday and I was really eager to see it in person. The collection launched at Macy’s as well, and the Herald Square store benefited from an appearance from both the actress/singer and designer. The pair looked so good together and their talk about how they met and how the collection happened was truly enjoyable. Something less enjoyable was Macy’s not providing the best spot for high visibility, nor its rude staff towards the audience.
