Bold people even mixed different prints and wore them together. Oh man, you gotta love those prints!

NY Fashion Week – Street Style #4 / White pieces

September 12, 2012

Have you ever asked yourself the question: what will happen to me if I wear white after Labor Day? Probably yes, because this ¨no white after Labor Day¨ rule is known by everyone and keeps prospering every year. It is in everyone’s mind that white is considered a ¨no can do¨ after that day and that is why every year, on Labor Day, I see so many people wearing their favorite white pieces for the last time.

Multiple explanations come across to find a reason for such a strict rule. The oldest explanation says it was set by high society families in the early 1900s. It is also said that summer comes to an end on Labor Day, and after that, everyone is back to work or school. Wearing white helps keep you cool during the hot days but with the arrival of fall, there is no need for that anymore. If you are in New York, however, the weather can still be hot until the end of September. By the way, isn’t it the official end of summer on September 22nd?
