Last weekend was the 8th annual AfroPunk festival in Brooklyn. It was a good opportunity to see what people were wearing while going to music events. Afro, Punk, AfroPunk, Hipsters, Casual… All the styles were represented. Of course I was more interested in people’s closet than music so if you ask me, I can only name Bad Rabbits as a band who played last Sunday.
NYC Streetstyle: Roaring 20s at the Jazz Age Lawn Party
August 25, 2012
A party without dancing is not a real a party right? The best thing when you attend a 1920s themed event is that the music plays a big part. Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra were a successfull match to transport the crowd back to the 1920s and dance in an old-fashioned way. Great moves, rhythm and laughter on the dancefloor were the results of this perfect Sunday, with many people wanting to get to some adult dance lessons after watching the spectacle! There is a reason why Time Out voted this yearly event one of the best summer events in the city and to be honest with you, I am already planning my outfit for next year.

Best NYC Streetstyle at the Jazz Age Lawn Party – Gorvernor’s Island
August 24, 2012
Last weekend was the second edition of the year of the Jazz Age Lawn Party at Governors Island. It was a good occasion to dress in our best apparel from the 1920s and pretend that we were still living in that era. Governors Island, for those who don’t know, is an island right outside of Manhattan accessible by boat only. In the past the island served as a military base, nowadays Governors Island is only accessible during summer and welcomes parties, festivals, exhibitions, etc…
When you go to a themed party you always wonder who will be dressed (I did) and who won’t play the game. I was nicely surprised to see that 95% of the crowd was dressed in their best 1920s style. Here are some of my favorite shots of last Sunday.
