Novembre est devenu un de mes mois préférés depuis que je vis à New York. Les températures rafraichissent mais sont encore douces, les feuilles des arbres se vêtissent de couleurs flamboyantes, et les New Yorkais se préparent à fêter Thanksgiving avant d’entamer les festivités de Noël.

November has become one of my favorite months since I moved to New York City. The weather is great, leaves are changing to stunning colors, it’s a perfect time to be outside, and everyone is getting excited for Thanksgiving and the Christmas festivities around the corner.

Central Park, best place to spend Fall in New York

Comme à chaque changement de saison, il me tarde d’attraper mon appareil photo et d’aller capturer la beauté de Central Park. Impossible de choisir quelle saison est la plus jolie à New York. Honnêtement, elles valent toutes le détour. Central Park, c’est l’une des multiples raisons pour laquelle j’adore vivre à Manhattan. Un havre de paix entre surpeuplement de buildings, de taxis jaunes, d’humains, de food trucks; s’il y a bien un endroit où il fait bon vivre à Manhattan, c’est ici.

Every season I cannot wait to grab my camera and go capture the beauty of Central Park. Don’t ask me which season is my favorite in New York as I cannot make up my mind. For me, they are all worth the stroll. Central Park is one of the many reasons I love living in Manhattan. It is such a breath of fresh air and freedom, a very needed break between the buildings (always too high), the yellow cabs (always so loud), the humans (always so many of them) and the food trucks (always so greasy). If there is one place where to find peace in this modern and unstoppable jungle, this is it.

Qui dit changement de saison, dit changement de garde robe. Avec l’arrivée des premiers jours frileux à New York et l’approche des fêtes de fin d’année, je n’ai qu’une envie: renouveler (ou plutôt ajouter) ma garde robe avec des vêtements aux couleurs neutres et aux matières chaudes. Et comme le mois décembre rime avec les fêtes, pourquoi ne pas y incorporer quelques pièces dorées et pailletées (ça suit tellement bien avec la neige aussi).

What keeps me excited with the beginning of the colder months in New York, is the good excuse it gives me to go shopping. Every year, the eternal comment bursts out of my mouth in front of my wardrobe : “I have nothing to wear, I really need to go shopping!” (ok each season I say that). I love Winter clothes because you see, you have to layer a lot to keep warm and suddenly indulging investing in a cashmere piece is a necessity.

NYC Halloween decorations in the West Village

Halloween à New York, chaque année c’est toute une histoire. Les New Yorkais sortent leurs décorations extérieures, font le plein de sucreries en tout genre, échangent sur leurs idées de costumes, découpent leurs potirons et jouent du networking pour se faire inviter à des fêtes démentes. Mais surtout, la magie d’Halloween est que tout le monde ou presque joue le jeux d’une manière ou d’une autre. La journée, ce sont surtout les enfants qui s’amusent, et la nuit les adultes prennent le relai et deviennent très très flippants. Souvenez-vous de mon article sur la parade d’Halloween lors de mon arrivée à New York. Et il n’y a pas seulement New York City, j’avais également testé la visite de la ville de Sleepy Hollow ici (comme le film), ainsi que le manoir de Dark Shadow ici (comme le film également) au nord de la ville.

Halloween in New York is always a great idea. New Yorkers expose their best outdoor decorations, buy tons of candy, look for the best costume, carve their pumpkins and use their networking to be part of the best parties in town. But what’s magical about Halloween in the city is that most of its residents (if not almost all of them) are playing their part. In the daytime kids have fun, but, once the sun goes down, adults take over and become very creepy. Remember when I participated in the Halloween parade a few years ago? Halloween is not only at its best in New York City, and I have been lucky enough to enjoy the city of Sleepy Hollow (like the movie) and Dark Shadow Manor (also like the movie), north of Manhattan.

Favorite pumpkin carving for Halloween

L’heure est grave. Pas encore au point de devenir folle, mais presque.

Deux jours, plus que deux jours avant la nuit d’Halloween dans les rues de New York et mes potirons sont encore nus comme un ver. Comme le lapin blanc d’Alice aux pays des merveilles, j’en suis à la limite de chanter: “Je suis en retard, en retard, en retard!”

Ok guys, I am stressed. Not at the point of freaking out, but almost. Two days, only two days left before Halloween night and I haven’t decorated my pumpkins yet. Like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, I am reaching the moment where I am running around singing: “I am late, I’m late, I’m late!”. So what happened? How did it go down?
